Unemployed...

I would have never in a million years think that word would apply to me, but yet it does. For the first time since I started working (right out of school) at age 17, I now find myself unemployed.

It's been just about a month now and after taking a breather one week, a mini vacation to Tobago the next, scratching while playing Sims 3 (it REAL BAD! btw), I am now volunteering at the Trade and Investment Convention at Center of Excellence Macoya. I've also been keeping busy doing a small graphic design course which I had signed up to do while I was still employed.

I've only sent out one job application (had an interview out of that one) and forwarded my resume to a friend, I've been taking a real laid back approach to looking for a new job. I don't think I can scratch for very much longer though and I definitely need to be looking for something (so I can pay my mortgage) soon.

(Unless someone can tell me ow to get paid while playing Sims!)

So after this week I think I'm definitely going to get a bit more aggressive in my job search. Wish me luck!...better yet, if you hear of any jobs you think I would be perfect for...you can drop me a line!

I can relate to what you're going through. When I moved back home I was jobless for a very long time despite applying for so many jobs that I lost track ( I won't say how long because I don't wanna scare you lol).

Anyway, what fields and geographic locations do you prefer? I will keep my eyes open for you.

The Monday Express & Newsday are good sources for jobs, as are www.caribbeanjobs.com and www.ghrs.gov.tt

Play your Sims 3!!! If you've been working since 17, it means you're used to being busy so you need all the mental stimulation you can get before you start to lose it. Trust me on that one lol.

Well, keep you head up, you'll find something. I also got laid off in February and thankfully I wasn't out of work very long. If there is a bright side, its that there isn't the same stigma attached to being unemployed in a recession. I didn't find myself having to explain to employers why I was let go. They seem to accept that good people are out of work for no other reason than the economy. Its one less thing to worry about in interviews

ennekaycee girl I have been checking ut the job sites eh, but not very agressively I will admit.
I'm looking for something to pay the bills basically..and I'm actually thinking about doing the part-time thing which would give me more time to do what wuzdescene and mauvaiselangue are suggesting.

I would love to be able to do my own thing, but I don't think I could do it on a full time basis just yet.
